CSV Action Sheffield: BBC Good Neighbour Appeal

An update on the superb work done by Andy and his team to support flood victims in South Yorkshire.

The CSV Good Neighbour Scheme at BBC Radio Sheffield started in June 2007 when the floods hit. As well as donations in money (which reached over £93,000 at the time of writing, 19th December 2007), these are some of the things which were donated:

:: 107 volunteers (including from Nabarro, HSBC and Sheffield Hallam University)
:: 198 fridge freezers
:: 111 cookers
:: 693 beds
:: 527 dining tables and chairs
:: 412 three-piece suites
:: 16,000 Kit-Kats
:: 70,000 Cup-a-Soups
:: 40 pallets of cleaning materials
:: £60,000 of bed linen from Roseby’s
:: 100 sofas from ILVA Ltd.
:: John Lewis of Sheffield donated five gas cookers, five electric cookers, eight refrigerators, three fridge freezers and ten washing machines
:: Two x 7.5 tonne trucks for six weeks from Hill Hire in Bradford
:: 26 DVD players
:: 301 colour TVs
:: 3398 offers and donations
:: 145 families have requested help
:: 60 families have had parts of their requests for help met
:: 11 families have been fully assisted
:: 7500 homes flooded
:: One day trip for 140 children to Scarborough on July 16th
:: Two transit vans for six weeks from Alliance Van Hire in Sheffield
:: £5000 from HSBC Community Scheme
:: £2000 from Waitrose, Sheffield
:: £500 in vouchers from Wilkinsons
:: 1000 litres of diesel from Brightbus in Treeton (thanks to Mick Strafford)
:: Three months free parking and security courtesy of Sheffield City Council
:: Protective clothing and gloves from Arden Winch in Sheffield
:: Four heavy duty sack barrows from Mudfords in Sheffield
:: Six rolls of industrial clingfilm from Greenhams in Sheffield
:: £250 from the Frenchgate Centre for the Toll Bar Children’s Christmas Party
:: £4000 from the SYCF Fund to Shiregreen Community Centre
:: £2000 Tesco Vouchers
