Before I moved to Ofcom I was heavily involved with the setting up and launch of the Agents4Change project, a programme to to encourage young people aged between 16 and 25 to volunteer, often for the first time.
The project was funded by Tesco and V, using the CSV partnership with the BBC to achieve some great things.
As the final report says:
“Between July 2007 and May 2009 CSV’s fulltime volunteers put on events which attracted 14,406 volunteers aged 16 to 25, a major undertaking for young people who had no experience of event management, volunteer recruitment or running a project. Each event was a one-off and inspired by local need.
Volunteers were supported by CSV Community Outreach Managers who were based at BBC local radio stations across the country through our partnership with BBC English Regions.”
The A4C Scrapbook gives a flavour of the project.
